The Story of the Autograph
Ty Blach is a starting pitcher in the major leagues for the San Francisco Giants. He’s seen only 38 appearances and 28 starts in the season plus that he’s spent in The Show. The majority of those were last year when he started 24 games in 34 appearances and went 8-12 with a 4.78 ERA.
Blach is originally from Colorado and then went to school at Creighton. The Giants drafted him the fifth round of the 2012 Draft. He worked his way through the minors starting in 2013 and made it to the 40-man roster in 2015. In 2016 he saw a little bit of action with the big club. In that September call-up he did pretty well, pitching three scoreless and giving up only one hit.
He picked up his first win on October 1st of 2016 and as a Giant, he did it in a special way. Blach went up against Clayton Kershaw and the Dodgers and pitched eight scoreless innings and gave up only three hits. And to add to that experience he actually got a couple hits off of Kershaw himself. He appeared in the playoffs later that month and got a win in relief against the Cubs.

Ty Blach is looking like a pretty reliable signer so far in his career. I feel like I have a bunch of his cards so I think I’ll definitely be sending some more during the season. I like Ty’s signature, but there are two things that I normally look at on my cards that knock this down a bit. One is objective and the other a bit more subjective. I think objectively, the Heritage card is just not a good card for signature. It’s too dark and busy where the signature would logically go. The other is more subjective and that’s that I would like to see a larger signature. I think it would have looked great on that Stadium Club card. And if you are wondering, yes I did take the edge off that Stadium Club card before I sent it.
