The Story of the Autograph
Troy Vincent was a cornerback in the NFL for the Miami Dolphins, Philadelphia Eagles, Buffalo Bills, and the Washington Redskins from 1992 through 2006. He’s probably best known as a Philadelphia Eagle where he spent 1996 through 2003. I know as a Giants fan that’s where I remember him best. He is currently the Executive Vice President of Football Operations for the NFL.
Vincent was drafted by the Dolphins in the first round of the 1993 NFL Draft after he had a great career at Wisconsin. He started for the Dolphins right away and they made it to the AFC Championship in his rookie year. After a few years in Miami he signed with the Eagles. While in Philly he made five consecutive Pro Bowls from 1999 to 2003. He actually shares the record for the longest interception return in Eagles history after a teammate intercepted Troy Aikman in the end zone and lateraled to Troy who took it the remaining 90 yards to pay dirt.
After moving on to Buffalo, Vincent transitioned to free safety. He was successful there to as he led the team with 102 tackles and still picked up four interceptions. He was injured in 2006 and went on injured reserve and after he returned the Bills released him. He finished out his career by signing with the Redskins who would release him after the season.
And if being a great player wasn’t enough, during his career Vincent won the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award (2002), “Whizzer” White NFL Man of the Year (2002) and the Bart Starr Man of the Year Award (2004).
The Score on Troy Vincent – 7.5
I wonder if this is from using an eraser on the cards a bit, but Vincent’s signature is a really interesting blue. It comes out really different on the Upper Deck card. It really verges on almost matching (or at least being a hue of) the Dolphins blue/green color. All three of these came out great. I just think the cards are a bit busy for them to get a super high score. But I LOVE that Troy’s signature his so large.
