The Story of the Autograph
Trent Yawney is a former defenseman and current coach in the National Hockey League. He played from 1987 to 1999 with the Chicago Blackhawks (twice), Calgary Flames, and St. Louis Blues.
Yawney is a Canadian who hailes from Saskatchewan. He started with the Saskatoon J’s in junior hockey and then went to the Saskatonn Blades of the WHL before being drafted by the Blackhawks in the third round of the 1984 NHL Draft. He would make his debut for them in the 1987 season.
He really started playing full time in his second season (1988-’89). As a defenseman he was never a big goal scorer with a career high of six for Calgary in 1993-’94. That was also his best +/- season with 21. His career high in points was in his second season in Chicago when he had a career high 19 assists to go with five goals for 24 points.
After his palying days he went into coaching. He was first an assistant with Chicago and then became a head coach in the AHL. He moved up to the NHL in 2006 with the Blackhawks. He’s currently the head coach of the Los Angeles Kings.
The Score on Trent Yawney – 7.5
Theis is a great return from Trent. The black marker he used is tremendous. He goes amazingly well witht he Blackhawks cards. I think my favorite are the 1990 Score cards. But really I’m surprised how well that marker cuts through the busy images on these cards. The only one it gets a little buried in is the 1990 Pro Set card.
