The Story of the Autograph

Tommie Agee played in the NFL for seven seasons. He played at running back for the Seahawks, Chiefs and most notably the Cowboys.

Agee grew up in Alabama and went to school at Auburn. He was a four-year starter there but was primarily the blocker for both Bo Jackson and Brent Fullwood. The Seahawks drafted him in the fifth round of the 1987 NFL Draft with the 119th pick. It was actually the same year that the other three running backs from Auburn were drafted. In the preseason he suffered a knee injury and went on injured reserve. He moved on to the Chiefs the next year as a free agent. Again he was injured during the preseason, but this time it was a finger and it kept him out for the first six weeks of the season.

In 1989 he again moved on to another team as a free agent. The Dallas Cowboys picked him up. Again he would block for another great running back in Emitt Smith. Daryl Johnston suffered a shoulder injury in the preseason and Agee stepped in. He would continue to be used as a backup for Johnston as well as play special teams. His best year statistically was in 1990 when he got 53 carries for 213 yards and added another 30 catches for 272 yards and a touchdown.

Agee was part of two Super Bowl winning Cowboys teams in the 90’s, both against the Buffalo Bills.

I’m not going to say I rooted for Tommie, because he was a Cowboy and as a Giants fan I can’t do that. But I always found it interesting that he had the same name as a Mets great. I was pleasantly surprised when I got this back. Tommie has a great signature. It’s a good size and it came out great on this card. He stacks his signature but then balances it with including the number. Great capital letters really make this one.

Thanks Mr. Agee! I’ll give this one an 8.
