The Story of the Autograph

Terry Porter is a former guard in the NBA. He played Point Guard most notably for the Portland Trailblazers from 1985 thought 1995. He also spent time with the Timberwolves, Heat, and Spurs during a seventeen year career.

Porter was born and raised in Milwaukee and attended college at the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point. He was great during his junior and senior seasons. During his junior year he was the NAIA Player of the Year and was the MVP of the championship tournament even though his team lost. His senior year was great too and included an invite to try to make the Olympic team where he was the only Division III player invited.

The Blazers liked him enough to take him as the 24th pick of the 1985 NBA Draft. He slipped a little bit from where he was expected to go, but Porter didn’t let the Blazers down. His time there included two All-Star games in 1991 and 1993 and he helped them to the NBA finals twice.

He would go on to help the Timberwolves to their first winning season and first-ever playoff berth during his time there. Then he moved onto the Heat and the Spurs. After his career was over he went into coaching and worked with the Kings, Bucks, Pistons, Suns, and Timberwolves. These days he is the coach for the University of Portland.

I’m digging Terry’s signature but these darn basketball cards are so dark and busy. He also doesn’t help that the Blazers uniforms are black. That said, if you look, terry has a great signature with some flare. Even better, he really tries to fill up the card pretty well.

Thanks Mr. Porter! I’m giving this return a 5.5.
