The Story of the Autograph

Steve Wilson is a former left-handed relief pitcher. He played in the majors from 1988 to 1993. During that time he played for the Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs, and Los Angeles Dodgers.

Wilson is a native of Canada. He went to college at the University of Portland and then before becoming a pro he played in the 1983 Pan American Games and the 1984 Summer Olympics for his home country. After playing in an Alaskan summer league, he was drafted by the Rangers in the fourth round of the 1985 MLB Draft. He would make his major league debut on September 16, 1988.

The winter after his debut, the Rangers traded him to the Cubs along with some minor leaguers, Paul Kilgus, Curt Wilkerson and Mitch Williams. In exchange the Rangers got Drew Hall, Jamie Moyer and Rafael Palmeiro. He would play for the Cubs for two and a half seasons before being traded again. His best season in Chicago was 1989 when he went 6-4 with a 4.20 ERA in 53 games and 85.2 innings.

The Cubs traded him to the Dodgers in the middle of the 1991 season for Jeff Hartsock. He had two and half seasons in L.A., with most of his appearances coming in the 1992 season. He tried to continue playing with the Brewers and the Chicago White Sox but never made it back to the majors. He then played in Taiwan in 1997 and 1998.

Steve has a really nice signature and it came out really great on these cards. While his fee isn’t a lot (just a dollar a card) it is always really nice when the signature comes out really well. All these cards to a great job of showing it off. And the blue Sharpie with the blue Cubs colors is awesome.

Thanks Mr. Wilson! I’m giving this return a 7.5.
