The Story of the Autograph

Steve Rosenberg is a former left-handed major league pitcher. He played from 1988 through 1991 with the Chicago White Sox and the San Diego Padres.

Rosenberg was born in Brooklyn, New York and later grew up in Coral Springs, Florida. He was a multi-sport guy in high school and then went to Broward Community College and then the University of Florida. He was drafted by the Yankees in the fourth round of the 1986 MLB Draft but he never made an appearance for them. He did well in the minors and was part of a trade with Dan Pasqua and Mark Salas going to the White Sox for Richard Dotson and Scott Nielsen after the 1987 season.

He made his major league debut for the White Sox on June 4, 1988 and appeared in 33 games over the rest of the year, all in relief. He was then more of a starter in 1989 with 21 starts in 38 appearances. After one more season back and forth to the minors he was traded to San Diego.

He didn’t play much for the Padres and after the season was dealt to the Mets, but he never made an appearance as injuries kept him off the field and he never appeared in a game for the Mets. He tried to make it back to the majors in the Mariners system but ended up retiring.

These came out really great. The black sticks out a little bitter on a few of these in the pictures as opposed to in person. The best card of these for me is the 1990 Upper Deck card. That one just has the best place to sign and show it off.

Thanks Mr. Rosenberg! I’m giving this return a 6.5.
