The Story of the Autograph
Stanley Roberts is a former center in the NBA. He played from 1991 to 2000 with the Orlando Magic, Los Angeles Clippers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Houston Rockets, and Philadelphia 76ers.
Roberts is a native of Hopkins, South Carolina. In high school he helped his team win two consecutive state titles and was a first-team All-American in his senior year. He went on to play at LSU and team upped with Shaquille O’Neal for one season after missing one because of being academically ineligible. Before he went to the NA he played in Europe with Real Madrid.
He was drafted in the first round by the Magic with the 23rd overall pick in the 1991 NBA Draft. He made the NBA All-Rookie Second Team in the 1991-92 season. He was moved to the Los Angeles Clippers after just one season as part of a three team deal that also included the Knicks (it involved draft picks as well as players Bo Kimble, Doc Rivers, Charles Smith, and Mark Jackson).
Roberts first year in Los Angeles was the best in his career. He played a career high 77 games and averaged almost 24 minutes per game. He averaged a career high 11.3 points per game, 6.2 rebounds per game and 1.8 block per game. Unfortunately weight issues and injuries caused him to miss a lot of time. That included missing the whole 1994095 season to an achilles injury.
He moved around the rest of his time in the NBA. He was banned from the league for drug violations and before officially retiring he played in Greece, Turkey, Puerto Rico and the ABA.

Stanley has a nice signature, these cards just aren’t great for him to sign. They are either dark or busy lot a lot of basketball cards are and that just hides the signature a bit. I’d like to see if I can find an LSU card for him to sign at some point.
