The Story of the Autograph
Shawn Boskie is a former right-handed pitcher in the major leagues. He played from 1990 through 1998 with the Chicago Cubs, Philadelphia Phillies, Seattle Mariners, California Angels, Baltimore Orioles, and Montreal Expos.
Boskie was born and raised in Nevada. He played football as well as baseball in high school and his parents were also athletes who bowled and played softball. He went to college in Modesto, California at Modesto Junior College. The Cubs drafted him in the first round of the 1986 MLB Draft with the tenth overall pick of the draft.
On May 20, 1990 he made his debut for the Cubs while pitching a five-hit complete game. He also had two of hits of his own at the plate. In 15 starts that first season he had a 3.69 ERA with a 5-6 record. He pitched mostly as a starter during his career, but in 1993 with the Cubs he pitched in relief with a 5-3 record and 3.43 ERA over 39 games and only two starts.
Aside from that record as a reliever, Boskie didn’t have a winning record (or a .500 record for that matter) until he played for the angels in 1995. He went 19-18 for the Angels over two seasons with a 5.44 ERA, mostly as a starter. He moved on to Baltimore and Montreal to finish his career but his appearances decreased while his ERA ballooned. He played his last game on July 18, 1998 for the Expos.
The Score on Shawn Boskie – 7.5
Shawn has a really nice and crisp signature. He only inscribed one card with a bible verse. I always find that interesting in why it was only one card. The same for guys who might personalize some cards and not others in the same return. His signature has a kind of flat element to it other than those few letters that stick up, but I would still consider it in a flat style.
