The Story of the Autograph

Scott Arniel is a former left wing and more recently a coach in the National Hockey League. He played from 1981 to 1992 with the Winnipeg Jets (twice), Buffalo Sabres, and Boston Bruins.

Arniel is a native of Kingston, Ontario, Canada. He played junior hockey first for the local Kingston Canadians and then for the Cornwall Royals. He played a big role on the Royals 1981 Memorial Cup championship with a hat trick against the Kitchener Rangers. He was drafted by the Jets with the 22nd overall pick in the 1981 NHL Draft. He wouldn’t play full time with the Jets until the 1982-83 season.

He had what would be his career year in his third year in the league. In 1983-84 he played in a career high 80 games and had 21 goals and a career high 35 assists for a career high point total of 56. He followed that up the following year with a 22 goal season. He was traded to the Sabres in 1986 and after a few years there was traded back to the Jets in 1990 with a first round pick, Phil Housley, and Jeff Parker for a first round pick and Dale Hawerchuk. The Jets would trade him to the Bruins where he played his final year before bouncing around in the minors.

Arniel began coaching in 1995. After coaching in the minor leagues he moved into the NHL. He was the head coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2010 for season and a half. These days he’s coaching with the New York Rangers.

The Score on Scott Arniel – 6.5

I like Scott’s signature but unfortunately I think the marker either wasn’t all that or it was the speed at which he signs that makes it look like its running out. I think the 1990 Pro Set card is my favorite because its pretty strong on there and you can see it pretty well. But I’m glad I got one of him in a Jets uniform because that’s where he had his best years, even though this card is in his second stint.

Thanks Mr. Arniel! I’m giving this return a 6.5.
