The Story of the Autograph

Ronnie Lippett is a former cornerback in the NFL. He played from 1983 through 1991 and spent his entire career with the New England Patriots.

Lippett was born and raised in Florida. He went to the University of Miami to play football and was then selected by the Patriots in the eighth round of the 1983 NFL Draft with the 214th pick. He was a good cornerback through his career and normally had a few interceptions each year except for his rookie year.

His best year came in 1986, a year after the Patriots went to the Super Bowl. That year he had eight interceptions. In all the years he play he only ran back two interceptions for touchdowns and both of those came in 1987 when he had three interceptions total.

He totaled 24 interceptions in his career, seven of them came against Dan Marion and the Dolphins. Apparently he hated the Dolphins because of something that happened when he was visiting the team while he was in college.

Ronnie has another autograph that I would say is on the verge of being “Colonial” or “Revolutionary War Era” as I’ve said in the past. I think it’s the style of his “L” that makes me think of it that way. I like his signature but a couple of these are smudged or have a fingerprint on them or something like that. Normally I make the score below 5 for that but I think I like these enough to make it higher.

Thanks Mr. Lippett! I’m giving this return a 5.
