The Story of the Autograph
Ron Rivera is a former linebacker and current head coach in the National Football League. He played from 1984 to 1992 and spent his entire playing career with the Chicago Bears. A few years later he joined the coaching ranks and has been the head coach of the Carolina Panthers since 2011.
Rivera was born in California and spent some of his life there. But he was part of a military family who moved around a lot both in the States and overseas. He went to high school in California and went to Cal-Berkeley for college where he was the leading tackler for his last three years. The Bears drafted Rivera in 1984 in the second round.
A year later Rivera would be a part of the vaunted 1985 Chicago Bear defense that would help the team to a Super Bowl XX win over the New England Patriots. He was the first Mexican/Puerto Rican to play on a Super Bowl championship team.
After his playing days Rivera worked his way through the coaching ranks with the Bears (twice), Eagles, and Chargers where he would either be linebacker coach or defensive coordinator. Then he was chose to coach the Panthers in 2011 and has twice been Coach of the Year in 2013 and 2015.

This is always a bit of a dilemna… the Pro Set card is so cool. I love this little insert set because it’s so dated. But damn it’s so dark that it’s not going to take a signature very well. Still, I like that it’s signed. Ron signed with a good solid marker and it looks like he can fill up a card pretty well.
