The Story of the Autograph
Rick Parker is a former outfielder in the major leagues. He played from 1990 to 1996 with the San Francisco Giants, Houston Astros, New York Mets, and Los Angeles Dodgers.
Parker is a Missouri native. He attended Missouri State University before moving on to the University of Texas. He was drafted in the 16th round of the 1985 MLB Draft by the Phillies, but never appeared in the majors for them. The Phillies traded him as a player to be named later in a deal that sent Steve Bedrosian to the Giants and Dennis Cook, Charlie Hayes and Terry Mulholland to the Phillies. He made his major league debut for the Giants on May 4, 1990.
He never played more than 54 games (which he did in his first year) in a season during his major league career, mostly bouncing back and forth to the minors. After two seasons with appearances for the Giants he did not appear in the majors in 1992. Then Parker moved on to the Astros and Mets each for a year and his final two seasons of major league appearances came for the Dodgers.
The Score on Rick Parker – 6.5
I love that both of these cards feature Rick on the base paths. It’s possible that they came in the same game, but probably not. He just appears to have on the same uniform, but it’s dirtied up in different ways. Rick’s signature is on the small side, but not the smallest. That’s just a tendency for those who sign with a thin marker.
Thanks Mr. Parker! I’m giving this return a 6.5.
