The last few weeks have been a bit odd. I went through weeks of really great successes and I think more importantly consistency of getting cards back, and now it seems as thought that’s changed a bit. Sure some of it can be chalked up to what I am sending out, or even to what’s going on in the world. But the mail has also been a bit odd.
I still haven’t received the mail from 6/22 and then yesterday I didn’t get the mail at all either. There’s been other days of no mail as well, but Informed Delivery didn’t tell me anything worthwhile from a TTM perspective was in there. Not that that means anything because I get things Informed Delivery hasn’t mentioned anyway.
I think I just need to look at this as getting “Even Steven.” There’s been plenty of great weeks and it was bound to even out. I’m still getting returns so it’s not like its drying up.
Thanks for listening! Let’s check out what happened on the blog this week…
The Review
Here’s what happened on the blog last week:
- Monday: Pokey Reese
- Tuesday: Sal Butera, Alan Knicely
- Wednesday: Tim Krumrie
- Thursday: Ted Power, Card Thoughts – 1991 Topps Stadium Club – Stadium Rock
- Friday: Merv Rettenmund
- Saturday: Eric Ball
- Sunday: Sal Romano
It was great to go through #queencity week last week and to see some recent returns from Cincinnati teams. It actually made me think back to my baseball road trip with my brother. We had a stop in Cincinnati and hang out down by the river and the stadiums before the game. That was really fun and I’d love to go back. It looked like a fun city. We also got to see Walk the Moon after the game so that was fun too.
The Preview
Here’s what I have coming up for this week:
- Monday: Maybe his name is a type of pasta dish…
- Tuesday: Three names, one reliable TTMer…
- Tuesday: Double D with a great signature…
- Wednesday: Dave “The Rock”…
- Thursday: Is he like the bounty hunter in Star Wars…
- Friday: Another double initial name, this time L’s…
- Saturday: Low velo, but highly effective…
- Sunday: Sings for The Doors…
So you all voted to have #windycity week. As you probably know, especially if you voted for it, the Windy City is Chicago. That’s a good amount of teams to choose from but we will stick with baseball so that certainly narrows it down if you are guessing with the above.
What will be represented are players who are depicted on my main display cards playing for a team that represents the city. And all of these are “recent” returns by the way. I would say at this month the oldest ones are about six months old but that isn’t super old to me.
Other Notes
Given I thought that things were inconsistent lately, it surprises me to see that my backlog continued to go up. I had a huge day to start the week and then the rest of the week was haphazard. To think if I had received the five returns I was supposed to get yesterday. Hopefully that means I have a big Monday coming up. You should see another Card Thoughts post this week too. I’m counting backwards in years with the boxes that I’ve been opening lately.
Stay safe and healthy out there!
