Review / Preview – Week of 11/6

TTM Review Preview

I made it through Halloween without gorging myself on candy! I’m probably fooling myself by saying that. I think I ate a bunch while dealing with things that night, but there wasn’t any left over and the kids don’t really trick or treat so there’s not much at the house. Now to stop myself from taking candy at work that people bring in.

I got my 50’s and 60’s packs from Ryan’s Vintage Cards this week. A very fun open. There wasn’t anything super crazy name-wise in there like I’ve seen in other rounds (most recently that was a Warren Spahn and then a Willie Mays earlier this year), but it was still some pretty good stuff. Definitely a lot of things I didn’t have from those year. There were some mid-50’s Bowman cards that are definitely very interesting.

Looking forward to a short work week this week. Maybe I can get some blog work done!

Hope you guys are having a great weekend!

The Review

Here’s what happened on the blog last week:

It was a Houston-themed #twofortuesday with players from the Astros and Oilers. But I was able to get pretty eclectic too, only missing some hockey. Two pretty great offensive lineman are probably the best names with Russ Grimm and Steve Wilson in there.

Unfortunately there was an unplanned post as well. Dick Drago died on the 2nd and I want to to post something for him since I had a return from him in the backlog. RIP Mr. Drago.

The Preview

Here’s what I have coming up for this week:

  • Monday: You da Manning…
  • Tuesday: Counsell-or…
  • Tuesday: Mr. Anderson…
  • Wednesday: Mark it down…
  • Thursday: Boom-Boom…
  • Friday: When you leave an “L” off a word, just Ellett…
  • Saturday: Keep your Witts about you…
  • Sunday: Royal Albert Hall…

There will be a Florida theme to the #twofortuesday posts. I would say “Florida Man”, but I don’t think that is much of a compliment for the guys being posted. They just happen to play for Florida teams on these cards.

Other Notes

This was another pretty good week. I went down a little from last week, but at least I am staying in double digits. This week I had fifteen returns with just one of those being a failure. The failure was from Storm Davis so I am not sure about that one. He’s been reliable for years and from what I can see has had a pretty consistent address. Maybe he’s moved and we haven’t caught up yet.

Other than that there were three stragglers this week. Trevor May signed after 414 days. I sent to him two seasons ago while he was with the Mets. I counted that as a “current player” return in my records because he was went I sent it, but he retired after the season. The other two were from Darrell Evans at 250 days and Billy Butler at 236 days.

Have a great week!
