The Story of the Autograph

Reggie Jefferson is a former designated hitter in the major leagues who also spent time at first and in the outfield. He played from 1991 to 1999 with the Reds, Indians, Mariners and Red Sox.

Jefferson was born and raised in Tallahassee, Florida where he played baseball, basketball and football. He was drafted out of high school by the Reds in the third round of the 1986 MLB Draft. He made his debut in the majors on May 18, 1991 with them, but they traded him to the Reds mid-season.

He played the next two and a half seasons in Cleveland. He then moved on to the Mariners and then the Red Sox where he spent his most significant time. He got the best shot at played in 1996 and 1997, mostly as a designated hitter. His best year was 1996 when he hit .347 with 30 doubles, 19 homers and 74 RBI, most of those being career highs. Unfortunately his average didn’t qualify for being among the league leaders because his wasn’t done in enough at bats.

After playing he’s served as an agent and a coach in the minors and in college.

The Score on Reggie Jefferson – 7.0

Reggie has what almost looks like one of those hieroglyphic signatures that looks more like images rather than letters. This was done with a great marker though. I think my favorite of these overall is the ’93 Upper deck because it just looks so bright compared to the other two. But the ’92 Fleer card really shows it off the best.

Thanks Mr. Jefferson! I’m giving this return a 7 overall.
