The Story of the Autograph

Randy Kutcher is a former outfielder in the majors leagues. He played from 1986 to 1990 with the San Francisco Giants and Boston Red Sox.

Kutcher was born in Anchorage, Alaska buy grew up in California. The Giants drafted him out of high school in the fourth round of the 1979 MLB Draft. He spend several years in the minors before making his debut major league appearance on June 19, 1986. He played in 71 games that first season in San Francisco and hit .237 with what would be a career high seven homers and sixteen RBI. He would only play in fourteen games the following season.

In December of 1987 he was traded to the Red Sox as a player to be named later in a deal that got the Giants Dave Henderson. He would be part of two division winning teams and played as a reserve outfielder along with Kevin Romine in those years. His best season with the Red Sox was 1989 when he appeared in a career high 77 games and hit .225 with two home runs and a career high 18 RBI.

He played his final major league game on September 17, 1990.

Randy only signed one of my cards. I definitely know that I sent him a duplicate and I know that players don’t always like sending duplicates. But I had also sent him an ’87 Donruss and I would have gotten him with both of his professional teams’ uniforms. This came out well though and had a great spot for him to sign.
