The Story of the Autograph
Randy Grimes is a former offensive lineman in the NFL. He played from 1983 to 1992 and spent his entire career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Grimes is a native of Texas. He stayed in state for college and went to Baylor University. He was part of their 1980 Southwest Conference Champion Bears squad that also included other NFL players including Mike Singletary. The Bucs drafted him in the second round of the 1983 NFL Draft with the 45th overall pick.
He started his career at guard and then moved to center for the majority of his career. He ended up playing 118 games and starting 104 in his nine year career. Unfortunately while playing he became addicted to painkillers and took up to 45 pills a day. He ended up recovering from his addiction and now works as a counsellor at that facility.
The Score on Randy Grimes – 5.0
Randy has a great signature, but unfortunately he used the dreaded ball point pen. I like his “G” because it looks like a lower case version but done at a capital size. I think a nice black Sharpie would have made these pretty bad ass, especially the 1991 Fleer.
Thanks Mr. Grimes! I’m giving this return a 5.
