The Story of the Autograph
Mike Richardt is a former second baseman in the major leagues. He in four seasons between 1980 and 1984 with the Texas Rangers and Houston Astros.
Richardt was born and raised in California. He was drafted twice before signing with a team. The Toronto Blue Jays in the second round of the 1978 MLB Draft out of Fresno City College but didn’t sign. He was drafted in the first round of the June Secondary Phase in the same year with the tenth overall pick by the Texas Rangers. He made his major league debut on August 30, 1980.
After playing just 22 games in the 1980 season after first coming up, he wouldn’t appear in the majors again in 1982. That year he played in a career high (by far) 119 games and his .241 with three homers and 43 RBI. The rest of his career was bouncing up and down between the majors and minors. In 1983 he ran into a little trouble by getting into a fistfight with Mickey Rivers on a plane trip. In 1984 he was traded to the Houston Astros for Alan Bannister.
He played in the minors in 1985, but just for 13 games and would be out of baseball for two years. He tried to comeback in the the independent minor leagues and then again with the Rangers but never made it back to the minors.

Mike definitely has one of those action-packed signatures. You can see it’s mostly the capital letters in his name that stick out. I think the 1983 Topps cards look a little less defined. The 1984 Topps cards are the better of these.
