The Story of the Autograph
Mike Henneman is a former right-handed relief pitcher. The former closer played from 1987 to 1996 with the Detroit Tigers, Houston Astros and Texas Rangers.
Henneman was born and raised in Missouri. He was drafted three times before signing with a team. The first was in 1982 in the 27th round by the Toronto Blue Jays while he was at Jefferson College. The second time was in the second round of the 1983 MLB Draft by the Philadelphia Phillies while he was at Oklahoma State, and the third was by the Tigers in the fourth round of the 1984 MLB Draft. He would make his major league debut with the Tigers on May 11, 1987.
He was saving games for the Tigers right from the start. In his first season, 1987, he went 11-3 with a 2.98 ERA in 55 games and earned seven saves. He would go on to a 57-34 record, 3.05 ERA and 154 saves with the Tigers. That included his only All-Star appearance. Those saves would rank him second on the Tigers save list behind Todd Jones.
Before he closed out his career he was traded to the Astros for Phil Nevin and then signed as a free agent with the Rangers. In more recent years he’s coached in the minors, most recently with the Kansas City Monarchs.
The Score on Mike Henneman – 7.5
I don’t think I really saw any returns from others suggesting that Mike was a regular signer. I just tried to take a shot at him since I saw he was coaching in Kansas City. I don’t really know how reliable he is though. These came out pretty clear and he puts a good amount of ink on your cards. These cards had some pretty good spots to sign though too.
Thanks Mr. Henneman! I’m giving this return a 7.5.
