The Story of the Autograph

Mauro Gozzo is a former right-handed pitcher in the major leagues. He had a few shots in the majors between 1989 and 1994 with the Toronto Blue Jays, Cleveland Indians, Minnesota Twins and New York Mets.

Gozzo was born and raised in Connecticut. He was drafted out of high school by the Mets in the 13th round of the 1984 MLB Draft. He didn’t debut in the majors as a Met though. In 1987 he was traded to the Kansas City Royals as part of the deal that brought the Mets David Cone. A season after that he was taken by the Blue Jays in the minor league draft and he made his debut for them on August 8, 1989.

He played in nine games that first season and went 4-1 with a 4.83 ERA with three of those nine games being starts. But after that he went on the Cleveland and Minnesota and in three seasons with those organizations he only appeared in two games each season. The Mets brought him back into the organization after the 1992 season and he would go on to pitch 10 games in 1993 and then 23 games in 1994. His last game was on August 11, 1994 which was the last game of the 1994 season before the player’s strike that went in to the next season.

These days he is the manager of the Gastonia Honey Hunters.

Mauro has a great signature. He made it really large on this card which is awesome. This card really helps it stick out too because it’s do bright and that black marker really pops. He didn’t play much but I’m surprised I didn’t have other cards of his with all the junk wax I have.

Thanks Mr. Gozzo! I’m giving this one a 7.
