The Story of the Autograph

Matt Treanor is a former catcher in the major leagues. He played from 2004 to 2012 with the Florida Marlins, Detroit Tigers, Texas Rangers (twice), Kansas City Royals, and Los Angeles Dodgers.

Treanor was born and raised in California and went to Mater Dei High School. The Kansas City Royals drafted him out of high school in the fourth round of the 1994 MLB Draft. He wouldn’t make it to the majors with the Royals though. In July of 1997 he was traded to the Marlins. He spent 10 years in the minors before making his major league debut on June 2, 2004. That season he was the backup to starting catcher Paul Lo Duca.

From there he moved around a lot. He was a back up everywhere he went and played an exact half season of games only once in 2010 with a career high of 82 games. His best season were in Florida with 2007 possibly being the best of all those. That year he hit a career high .269 with four homers and 19 RBI.

But he is not the most famous person or even athlete in his family. He is married to beach volleyball start Misty May Treanor. They met as a sports therapy facility in California and have three children.

I always love the blue marker with blue team colors and I think Matt’s autograph is pretty interesting. He put’s a lot more effort into his first name than his last name and I think I initially missed that he includes his number in there. But these two cards are not the best ones to show off his signature.

Thanks Mr. Treanor! I’m giving this return a 6.5.
