The Story of the Autograph

Mark Lee is a former left-handed reliever in the major leagues. He played during three seasons between 1988 and 1995. In that span he spent time with three teams: Kansas City Royals, Milwaukee Brewers, and Baltimore Orioles.

Lee was born in North Dakota. He went to college first in Colorado and then at Florida International University in Miami. It was while there that he was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 15th round of the 1985 MLB Draft. He would never appear in the majors for the Tigers. In August of 1988 they traded him with another player to the Kansas City Royals for Ted Power. He then made his major league debut with the Royals on September 8, 1988.

He was released by the Royals at the end of Spring Training before the 1990 season. He signed with the Brewers as a free agent in May of that season and would spend more time (2 seasons) with the Brewers in the majors than any where else. He appeared in eleven games in 1990 and then 62 in 1992 putting up a 2-5 record with a 3.86 ERA, all in relief.

After becoming a free agent he would bounce around to the Rangers and Cubs but would never appear in the majors with them. He got one more shot in Baltimore in 1995 and made 39 appearances that season, his last in the majors.

Mark basically signs with first name and last initial. I think that’s pretty easy to do with a name like Lee where the two “e’s” can look like a line if you want them to. For a short name he actually gives his signature a pretty good size and these cards do a pretty darn good job of showing it off. On top of all that, the blue marker looks really good on these.

Thanks Mr. Lee! I’m giving this return a 7.
