The Story of the Autograph

Kelly Miller is a former left wing in the NHL. He played from 16 years from 1984 to 1999 with the New York Rangers and Washington Capitals.

Miller is a native of Lansing, Michigan. He played college hockey at Michigan State University and was the one of ten members of his family to play for the Spartans. The Rangers drafted him in 1982 in the ninth round of the NHL Draft with the 183rd overall pick. He spent the first three years of his career in New York and was then traded to the Capitals in the 1986-87 season. He spent the next 13 years in Washington. His best season might have been in 1990-91 when he played in 80 games and scored a career high 24 goals and 26 assisted for 50 points.

After his playing days he coached for the Islanders. In more recent years he coached for his Alma Mater.

Miller was one of three brothers who played in the NHL, the others being Kevin and Kip. He also is a cousin of goaltender Ryan Miller and Drew Miller.

The Score on Kelly Miller – 6.5

Man hockey cards are so busy, I really like Kevin’s signature but it just gets really buried on the card. I think maybe my favorites are either the 1990-91 Upper Deck card or the 1991-92 Pro Set Card. That great blue ink with the red, white, and blue uniforms is pretty great looking.

Thanks Mr. Miller! I’m giving this return a 6.5.
