The Story of the Autograph

Keith Hughes is a former outfielder in the major leagues. He played with the Yankees, Phillies, Orioles, Mets, and Reds for four seasons between the years of 1987 and 1993.

Hughes was born and raised in Pennsylvania. He went to college at Albright College in Reading, PA. The Phillies signed him as an amateur free agent in 1981. Before he could make it to the majors they traded him to the Yankees in 1984. It’s with the Yankees that he made his major league debut on May 19, 1987. But less than a month later he was traded back to the Phillies in a trade involving Mike Easler.  Right before the beginning of the 1988 season he was traded to the Orioles with Rick Schu and Jeff Stone.

Hughes jumped around a lot. He never played more than 41 games in the majors in any one season. He did that first in his rookie year with the Yankees and Phillies. Then he did it again the next year with Baltimore. But after than he never played more than eight games and his next shot wasn’t until 1990 with the Mets and then 1993 with the Reds.

The Score on Keith Hughes – 6.0

Keith has a pretty small signature. It sort of starts in a detailed way and then strays a bunch from that as he gets into his last name. This is another example of an inconsistency in a signing pattern. You can see he didn’t put a bible verse on the 1988 Score card.

Thanks Mr. Hughes! I’m giving this return a 6.
