The Story of the Autograph

Karl Best is a former right-handed pitcher in the major leagues. He played from 1983 to 1988 with the Seattle Mariners and Minnesota Twins.

Best is a native of Washington state. The Mariners drafted him out of high school in the twelfth round of the 1977 MLB Draft. He wouldn’t make his major league debut until six years later on August 19, 1983. In the four years he spent with the Mariners, he was mostly up and down between the big ball club and the minors. He did increase his appearances each year but topped out at 26 appearances in 1986.

The Mariners traded him to the Tigers in the middle of the 1987 season but he never appear for them. Just before the 1988 season he was traded to the Twins where he made eleven appearances in 1988. The Twins traded him to the Giants before the end of that season but he never made another major league appearance.

The Score on Karl Best – 5.5

Karl has a tiny little signature. It looks like he puts it in the same exact place on each card too, regardless of what’s there on the card. I think the score for this one is mostly due to the size of the autograph. It isn’t super defined either, but I think the size is the big thing for me.

Thanks Mr. Best! I’m giving this return a 5.5.
