The Story of the Autograph

Joey Porter is a former linebacker and current coach in the NFL. He played for thirteen seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Miami Dolphins and Arizona Cardinals. He was a Pro Bowler and Super Bowl winner.

Porter went to prep school in California and played wide receiver and running back. He also played basketball. From there he went on to attend Colorado State. He started as a H-back with the Rams and didn’t play defense until is junior year. Still, he got 22 career sacks. The Steelers drafted him in 1999 in the third round with the 73rd overall pick.

He wore the number 55 to honor Junior Seau, his childhood hero. He played a lot of special teams to start but would get more and more time on defense during his rookie season. He would get 10.5 sacks the next year, good for second on the team. He would continue to improve until 2003 when he missed two games due to a gunshot wound just before the season. But he would bounce back the next season.

One of Porter’s career highlights is winning Super Bowl XL against the Seahawks. From there he would move on to the Dolphins and then the Arizona Cardinals. These days he’s back coaching with the Steelers where he had some of the best years and moments of his career.

The Score on Joey Porter – 6.5

Joey has a pretty solid signature. It’s a good size but doesn’t fill up the full card. The blue looks a little awkward on the red Cardinals jersey, but black would have mixed into the other parts of the jersey as well.

Thanks Mr. Porter! I’m giving this one a 6.5.
