The Story of the Autograph
Jack O’Connor is a former left-handed pitcher in the major leagues. He worked mostly as a reliever from 1981 to 1987 in six seasons. During that time he played with the Minnesota Twins, Montreal Expos, and Baltimore Orioles.
O’Connor is a native Californian. He was drafted out of high school by the Expos in the ninth round of the 1976 MLB Draft. But he wouldn’t appear for them to start his career. The Twins took him in the 1980 rule 5 draft and he would make his major league debut for them on April 9, 1981.
He had some of his most significant time in the majors in his first three years with the Twins. He was appearing in 23+ games each season but had a 4+ ERA in those years. In 1982 the Twins mostly used him as a starter, having him start 19 of 23 games. The Twins then traded him to the Expos in a deal for Mike Stenhouse.
After a season with the Expos he was released. He went to the Mariners but wouldn’t appear in the major in the 1986 season. He then moved on to the Orioles where he finished out his major league career and played his last game on October 3, 1987.
The Score on Jack O’Connor – 7.5
Jack puts a good amount of ink on your card as you can see. He really dominates the signature with that “J” to start of but in general his caps are much bigger than his lower case letters. These were all done with a really strong marker though and they came out great.
Thanks Mr. O’Connor! I’m giving this return a 7.5 overall.
