The Story of the Autograph

Jack Lazorko is a former right-handed relief pitcher in the major leagues. He played from 1984 to 1988 with the Milwaukee Brewers, Seattle Mariners, Detroit Tigers, and California Angels.

Lazorko was born and raised in New Jersey. He was drafted five times before signing a deal. Three of those times were in the first or second round or by the Phillies. Finally the Phillies took the hint and stopped picking him. Unfortunately he skipped out on the Yankees too. Finally he signed when the Astros drafted him in the 11th round of the 1978 MLB Draft. But he never appeared with the Astros.

Before appearing in the majors he was purchased and released by the Rangers and then signed by the Brewers. The next year he made his first major league appearance on June 4, 1984. He made 15 appearances that season with an 0-1 record and a 4.31 ERA. The year he got the most playing time was in 1987 with California when he went 5-6 in 26 appearances including 11 starts with a 4.59 ERA.

Lazorko was an amazing fielding pitcher. This probably goes back to the fact that he was a hockey goalie in his younger days. Ron Darling, himself a pretty good fielder and Gold Glove winner called him the greatest fielding pitcher he’d seen.

The Score on Jack Lazorko – 6.5

Jack has a stacked and kind of overlapping signature. His “J” and his “L” almost mix into each other with the overlap and similar style to them. The light marker came out pretty well but it gets hidden with some of the business on the cards. Still these came out pretty good and are a good size on the cards.

Thanks Mr. Lazorko! I’m giving these a 6.5.
