The Story of the Autograph

Harold Pressley is a former forward in the NBA. He played from 1986 to 1990 with the Sacramento Kings and then played overseas through 1995.

Pressley was born in the Bronx, NY but went to high school in Connecticut. He then played at Villanova University and was part of their 1985 National Championship team. He was the first player in Big East history to record a triple-double. In 1986 he was First-Team All Big East, AP honorable mention All-American, a member of the Big East All-Tournament team and the Big East Defensive Player of the Year. That was enough for the Kings to take him with the 17th overall pick in the first round of the 1986 NBA Draft.

He mostly played at small forward and shooting guard during his time in the NBA. His started a career high 49 games in 1987-’88 and played a career high in minutes in 1988-’89 with 28.2. That was the year he saw some of his best stats with 12.3 points per game (career high), 6.1 rebounds per game (career high), 2.2 assiss per game, 1.2 steals per game (career high) and 1 block per game (career high).

Unfortunately when the Kings brought in Dick Motta as the coach he saw a lot less playing time. He moved on to play in Spain and helped Joventut Badalona with two championships in 1991 and 1992 and reach the 1992 Euroleague finals. He then went to play for Pau-Orthez in France and finally back to Spain to play with Baloncesto Leon.

He coached witht he San Diego Wildfire of the ABA and in more recent years has been a broadcaster and worked for the Kings.

It’s not very often that you get a basketball card with a great place to sign. But this one from Harold had it and he did a great job. It had the perfect spot to be in and he used a great marker that really sticks out. Unfortunately he kept a few cards. Since this is the first attempt I’ve had with him I am not sure if that is normal for him or not.

Thanks Mr. Pressley! I’m giving this return an 8.
