The Story of the Autograph

Greg Gohr is a former right-handed pitcher in the major leagues. He played from 1993 to 1996, mostly with the Tigers, but was moved to the California Angels in his final season in the majors.

Gohr is a native of California. He grew up in the Bay Area and then went to Santa Clara University. From there he was drafted by the Tigers with the 21st pick of the first round in the 1989 MLB Draft. He made his major league debut four years later on April 7, 1993.

He didn’t really play too much in the majors until the 1996 season. That year he went 5-9 in 32 games with sixteen starts, but he did that while playing for two teams. The Tigers traded him in the middel of the season to the Angels for Damion Easley. He had a 7.24 ERA that season. I think you would have to say it’s because he set a record for the most home runs given up per nine innings. He game up 31 homers for the year and pitched in 115.2 innings.

He played his final game in the majors on September 27, 1996.

For having such a short name with four letters in both his first and last names, Greg certainly has a powerful signature. Part of that is that the marker he used looks really crisp and strong on these cards. All of them gave him a great place to sign and show it off. It’s a good sized signature for only have eight letters to it.

Thanks Mr. Gohr! I’m giving this return a 7 overall.
