The Story of the Autograph
Ernest Givins is a former wide receiver in the NFL. He spent the majority of his career in Houston with the Oilers from 1986 through 1995 and then his final year with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 1995.
Givins was born and raised in Florida. He first attended Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College and later transferred to Louisville where he send punt and kickoff return records. The Oilers drafted him in the second round of the 1986 NFL Draft with the 34th overall pick.
As part of the “Run and Shoot” offense in Houston, Givins, who was about 5’9″ and 175 lbs., would have some great years as a receiver. He rookie season was one of his best as he topped the 1,000 yard mark for the one and only time in his career and had three touchdowns. He also rushed for 148 yards on nine attempts (a 16.4 yard average) and added another touchdown.
He had four other years with the Oilers where he topped 900 yards. He made it to two Pro Bowls in his career in 1990 and 1992. His 1992 year he had almost 800 yards receiving but score a career high ten touchdowns. Those of course allowed him to show off his “Electric Slide” celebration.

The first time I sent to Ernest I got it back. I’m can’t remember why but I finally found an updated address and sent to him again. He signs nice and big which is always one of my favorite things for a player to do. I also love his “E” and that it looks kind of like a 3 in some of these.
