The Story of the Autograph

Doug Lidster is a former defenseman in the NHL. The two-time Stanley Cup winner played from 1983 to 1999 with the Vancouver Canucks, New York Rangers (twice), St. Louis Blues, and Dallas Stars.

Lidster is a native of British Columbia, Canada. He was drafted in 1980 by the Vancouver Canucks in the seventh round of the NHL Draft. But instead of joining the organization he went to play for Colorado College and then for Canada in the 1984 Olympics. He debuted for the Canucks at the end of the 1983-84 season.

He was a long time Canuck, from his debut through the 1992-93 season before he was traded to the Rangers for John Vanbiesbrouck. That was a fortuitous trade for Lidster as he would be part of the team that broke the Rangers 54 year Cup drought. They happened to do it against Lidsters former team, the Canucks.

He moved on to St. Louis via trade for a year before returning to New York for three seasons. He signed as a free agent with the Dallas Stars for his final season in 1998-99 and went out with another Cup before retiring.

The Score on Doug Lidster – 5.5

It looks like Doug has a nice signature there, but it;s so hard with these cards. The cards are busy, but what really gets in the way are those old black Canucks uniforms. It’s just hard to really show over that. I think my favorite of this bunch is the 1991 Pro Set Card.

Thanks Mr. Lidster! I’m giving this return a 5.5.
