The Story of the Autograph
Dave Ellett is a former defenseman in the NHL. He played from 1984 to 2000 with the Winnipeg Jets, Toronto Maple Leafs, New Jersey Devils, Boston Bruines, and St. Louis Blues.
Ellet was born in Cleveland, Ohio. His father, Bob, played minor league hockey there at the time he was born. He was drafted by the Winnipeg Jets in the 1982 NHL Draft, but before playing professionally he went to play hockey at Bowling Green State University. While there he helped the Falcons win the NCAA Championship during the 1983-’84 season.
He debuted for the Jets the following season and was a good defenseman right away. He was very good during his time in Winnipeg. Unfortunately while he was there, Edmonton and Calgary were also good and that meant that while with the Jets he didn’t have much playoff success. He did score a career high in goals in 1988-’89 with 22. He added 34 assists for a total of 56 points, just two under his career high in points the previous season.
The Jets traded Ellett and Paul Fenton to the Leafs for Ed Olczyk and Mark Osborne in the middle of the 1990-’91 season. He became more offensive and was a big part of the Leafs reaching the conference finals two years in a row. He was later traded to the Devils with Doug Gilmour in 1996-’97, but only spent the rest of that season in New Jersey. He finished out his career in Boston and St. Louis.

Wow! That is a lot of action happening on these cards. The busy image and the busy signature are quit a lot. Unfortunately the cards don’t let Dave show it off too well with the busy image and dark uniforms he is signing over. But I like that he really fills up the card with his signature.
