The Story of the Autograph

Dave Cochrane is a former utility player in the major leagues. He played in five seasons between 1986 and 1992 with the Chicago White Sox and Seattle Mariners.

Cochrane is a California native. He went to college at Cal State Fullerton and was drafted by the Mets in the fourth round of the 1981 MLB Draft. He never made it to the majors with the Mets. In 1985 New York traded him to Chicago for Tom Paciorek. He made his major league debut with Chicago on September 2, 1986 and played 19 games that season.

He didn’t play in the 1987 season and then the White Sox then traded him to Kansas city with Floyd Bannister for John Davis, Melido Perez, Greg Hibbard and a minor leaguer. Before he could play for the Royals he was traded the following year to Seattle for another minor league player. He spent parts of the next four seasons with the Mariners. In 1992 he played every position except pitcher and center field (as that was where Ken Griffey Jr. played).

He played his last major league game with the Mariners in 1992 and moved on to the Reds but would never play in the majors again.

The Score on Dave Cochrane – 6.5

Unfortunately Dave’s marker wasn’t really great for him on these. He seems to have a lot of action in his signature but either he goes too fast for this marker to keep up or it was just the end of this particular marker. I think my favorite of this bunch is the 1993 Topps card.

Thanks Mr. Cochrane! I’m giving this return a 6.5.
