The Story of the Autograph

Dave Cash is a former second baseman in the major leagues. He played from 1969 to 1978 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Philadelphia Phillies, Montreal Expos, and San Diego Padres.

Cash was born and raised in Utica, New York. He was drafted out of high school in the fifth round of the 1966 MLB Draft by the Pirates. He then made his major league debut for them on September 13, 1969. He played just over 80 games in those first two seasons but then took a much bigger role for the Pirates run to the World Series in 1971.

In 1973 he was traded to the Philadelphia Phillies for Ken Brett. He had some of his best seasons in Philadelphia and was recognized for it. From 1974 to 1976 he made the All-Star game for three consecutive years. He led the league in hits in 1975 with 213 and triples in 1976 with 12.

After Philadelphia he moved on to Montreal and then his final year was in San Diego. After his career ended had some coaching jobs in the minor and major leagues.

The Score on Dave Cash – 6.5

Dave signed all of these well, but I don’t think I gave him the best cards to show off his signature. I love the “D” as it almost feels Disney-ish to me. I need to try to find some Phillies cards for him to sign since he had some of his best years there.

Thanks Mr. Cash! I’m giving this return a 6.5 overall.
