The Story of the Autograph

Dan Pastorini is a former NFL quarterback. He played from 1971 to 1983 with four teams: the Houston Oilers, Oakland Raiders, Los Angeles Rams, and Philadelphia Eagles.

Pastorini is a native of the Bay Area in California. He was born in San Francisco, went to high school in San Jose, and then went to college at Santa Clara. He was taken third overall in the 1971 NFL Draft behind Jim Plunkett and Archie Manning.

He was known as a very tough quarterback. He missed very few games, played through injuries and is one of the first to play with a flack jacket to protect his ribs. His first four years with the Oilers were not good for the team record overall. In 1975 though he led the team to a 10-4 record, passed for over 2,000 for the first time in his career, and made his one and only Pro Bowl appearance. After another down year in 1976 he would have winning records for the rest of his time as an Oiler, especially after Earl Campbell led the rushing attack.

He was traded to Oakland but after struggling to start well, he broke his leg and Jim Plunkett took over. Plunkett would then lead the team to a Super Bowl victory over the Eagles. He moved on to the Rams and Eagles before his time in the NFL was done.

The Score on Dan Pastorini – 7.5

Dan has a really great signature and it came out amazing on these cards. He used a great marker and it goes really well with the other tones of blue on the card. Even though the card is a little bit busy, the signature cuts right through and stands out well.

Thanks Mr. Pastorini! I’m giving this return a 7.5 overall.
