The Story of the Autograph

Chris Bassitt is a starting pitcher in the major leagues. He’s been in the league since 2015, starting with the Chicago White Sox and then spent time in Oakland with the Athletics. He was just recently traded to the New York Mets.

Bassitt is a native of Ohio. He played basketball in addition to baseball in high school and then went on to play baseball at the University of Akron. The White Sox drafted him in the 16th round of the 2011 MLB Draft. He made his major league debut on August 30, 2014 against the Detroit Tigers.

The White Sox traded Bassitt along with Josh Phegley, Marcus Semien and Rangel Ravelo to the A’s for Jeff Samardzija and Michael Ynoa after the 2014 season. Unfortunately in the 2016 season, he had to undergo Tommy John surgery and would miss the remainder of that season and the next. But he was back to the bigs in 2018.

Since the surgery he’s been pretty good. He’s had a winning record every year since 2019 and last year he went 12-4 with a 3.15 ERA in 27 starts and earned his first All-Star appearance. But in August of last year he was hit in the face with a line drive. He did return to the mound later in the season and I hope it doesn’t effect him going forward.

The Score on Chris Bassitt – 7.0

Chris definitely did a good job matching the facsimile signature on this card. This was another guys that I saw people getting returns for. The problem was that with not getting that many cards in the last few years, it’s hard for me to find things I can really send out. Thankfully I found one for him.

Thanks Mr. Bassitt! I’m giving this return a 7.
