The Story of the Autograph

Chip Lohmiller is a former kicker in the NFL. During his nine year career he played for the Redskins, Saints and Rams. But of those teams he’s best known for being a Redskin were he spent 1988 through 1994.

Lohmiller was born and raised in Minnesota and went to the University of Minnesota to play football. As a Gopher he was named to the All-Big Ten Conference first team in 1986 and second team in 1987. He left the school as their all-time leading scorer (a record since broken). He was drafted in the second round by the Redskins with the 55th overall pick.

Lohmiller had some good years in DC but none better than 1991 when the Redskins offense was a juggernaut. He led the league in Field Goals Attempted and Field Goals Made, but he also led the league in Extra Points Made which tells you how much the Redskins were scoring. He led the league in scoring with 149 points. It just so happens that he outscore the Indianapolis Colts who had 143 (as a team). Lohmiller would be All-Pro and make the Pro Bowl that year to go along with a Super Bowl win in Super Bowl XXVI against the Bills.

These days Lohmiller coaches high school in Minnesota.

Chip has a great autograph. What I like best about it is that he fills up the card so well. I wish I had a little bit better card for the signature on this one. But this is a nice card because it’s pretty colorful.

Thanks Mr. Lohmiller! I’m giving this one a 7.5.
