The Story of the Autograph

Bubba McDowell was a safety in the NFL for seven seasons. He spent most of his career with the Houston Oilers. Then he played his final years in Carolina with the Panthers in their inaugural season.

Bubba went to college at the University of Miami and he was part of the Hurricanes 1987 consensus national champion squad. They had some really great teams back in those days. The Oilers then made him a third round pick in the 1989 NFL Draft with the 77th overall pick. He had some pretty good seasons in the NFL. From 1989 to 1993 he was able to play and start in almost every game. He was good for 2-4 interceptions a year. Ad that to the 10 career forced fumbles and 5 career sacks and a safety and you got yourself a pretty good career.

These days you can find Bubba at Prairie View A&M.

The Score on Bubba McDowell – 7.5

BraveSTARR Score LogoBraveSTARR Score 6.5

Bubba has a really nice signature. It’s one of those that really balances between planned and quick, but you can tell he takes care in signing the cards. The Stadium Club really came out the best because the background is less busy. I think I would have given this a better rating but the both cards came out a little light with the marker, but especially parts of the Pro Set.

Thanks Mr. McDowell! These get a 7.5.
