The Story of the Autograph

Brian Schneider, this year a coach for the Miami Marlins, played at catcher in the majors from 2000 through 2012. He played for the Expos/Nationals, Mets, and Phillies.

Schneider was born in Florida but grew up in Pennsylvania and played in a highly competitive area during high school. He was Lehigh Valley Player of the Year in both 1994 and 1995. He signed a letter of intent to play with Central Florida but the Expos drafted him in 1995. He made his way through the system and first appear for the Expos on May 26, 2000. He split time for most of the beginning of his career until 2003 wen he would start six straight years with 100+ games played.

He was with the Expos in 2005 when the team was moved to DC and became the Nationals. That was one of his best years when he hit .268 with 10 homers and 44 RBI. The only other year that might be better would be the year before in Montreal when he hit .257 with 12 homers and 49 RBI. After the Nationals he spent two years in New York and then three in Philadelphia as he made his tour around the NL East. Considering he now coaches for the Marlins, he only needs to move to the Braves to cover the whole division.

I like the style in Brian’s autograph. The way he make his “B” and “S” have that same loop is really cool. I wouldn’t think that those two letters could match like that but it really works in his autograph. I would imagine that with the way he does that you really have to plan out where you are signing and make sure you have room to do it.

Thanks Mr. Scheider! I’m giving this a 7.
