The Story of the Autograph

Brian Baschnagel is a former wide receiver in the NFL. He played from 1976 to 1985 and spent his entire career with the Chicago Bears.

Baschnagel was born in New York and raised in Pennsylvania. In high school as a running back he was the first running back in his high school conference to rush for over 400 yards in a game. He went on to attend Ohio State starting out as a running back and moving to receiver. He was a two time All-American in 1974 and 1975. The Bears drafted him with the 66th overall pick in the third round of the 1976 NFL Draft.

He began as a defensive back in the NFL and then moved back to a receiver role. His best year was 1981 when he played in 16 games with 14 starts and put up 500 receiving yards and three touchdowns, both career highs. From 1979 to 1981 he had the best years of his career.

While he might have technically been part of the team in 1985, he never played during their run to the Super Bowl. He had a knee injury in training camp and spent the entire season on the IR. He did participate and helped the coaches out and they awarded him with a Super Bowl ring when they beat the Patriots in Super Bowl XX.

This one didn’t come out too well from Brian. The marker he used really just didn’t have anything left in it. It kind of just left a bit of a mess on the card. That said, I do appreciate the effort.

Thanks Mr. Baschnagel! I’m giving this return a 4.
