The Story of the Autograph
Braden Shipley is a pitcher with the Arizona Diamondbacks. He grew up in Oregon and then attended the University of Nevada. He started there mostly as a shortstop and only pithed 10 innings in his freshman year. Then the next few years he would focus on pitching and be the WAC Pitcher of the Year as a Sophomore.
The Diamondbacks drafted Shipley as the 15th pick in the first round in 2013. From 2013 to 2015 he worked his way through the minors and made his debut in July of 2015 with Arizona. He started 11 games that year and made 13 appearances. He definitely struggled to a 4-5 record with a 5.27 ERA and gave up 14 homers and 28 walks with 43 Ks in only 70 innings of work.
Last year the Diamondbacks moved Shipley up and down a bit. In his time with Arizona last year he would make only three starts in ten appearances. Braden again had a 5+ ERA. I’m not sure what Arizona’s plan for him is with regard to being a starter or a reliever.

Braden has a solid signature. What I think helps him out is that he takes up a good amount of space on the card. He’s not short-changing you on the ink at all. He uses a solid marker too. I’m really glad that I found that Fire cart in the blaster I opened up early this year. That’s exactly why I like to open those later after I get them when it’s right about the time for sending to Spring Training. That one is probably a little busier than I wanted, but it’s a cool card.
