The Story of the Autograph

Chris Devenski is a right-handed reliever with the Houston Astros. He’s been in the league for two years. He was originally drafted in the 25th round of the 2011 MLB Draft by the Chicago White Sox after playing at Cal State Fullerton in college. After a little time in the minors, Chris was traded to the Astros for Brett Myers in 2012.

He worked his way throught the Houston system and made his major league debut in April of 2016. Devenski would make 48 appearances in that debut year and go 4-4 with a 2.16 ERA. Then last year was a great year for Chris both from a personal and team perspective. He made the All-Star team and went 8-5 with a 2.68 ERA in 62 appearances. Then you can add a World Series ring to that.

Although Chris had a great year, the postseason wasn’t anywhere near what he did in the regular season. In three series he pitched in 10 games with a 9.0 ERA in eight innings. The ALDS and the ALCS were a lot worse than the World Series. At least in the Series he had a win and his ERA was 7.20, whereas in the ALDS and ALCS he had a double-digit ERA.

I’m sure Chris will bounce back from that postseason performance this year. It looks like he might be part of an all-righty bullpen to start the year.

The Score on Chris Devenski – 6.5

It’s always nice to get a signature from a World Series winner. I just wish I had a few more cards for Chris to sign. I had to scrape this one up somehow. Chris has a little kid feel to the way he signs, but I do like that he takes up a good amount of room with it. I also like that he adds “Devo” to the D in his last name. He definitely has a plan for his signature and I am all in on that. What I think hurts the score on this one is where he signed. It’s just a bit busy there and there’s a lot going on in that shadowed part of his body.

Thanks Mr. Devenski! This one gets a 6.5.
