The Story of the Autograph

Bill Nahorodny was a catcher in the majors from 1976 though 1984. Over those nine years he played with the Phillies, White Sox, Braves, Indians, Tigers and Mariners.

Nahorodny was drafted in the sixth round of the 1972 MLB Draft by the Phillies. He made his major league debut four years later at the end of the 1976 season on September 27th. After going back to the minors for the next season, the White Sox claimed him off waivers and he spent the rest of the year and the next two seasons in Chicago. 1978 was the season where he got his best chance to play and made it into 107 games with the White Sox. He hit .236 with eight home runs and 35 RBI.

Bill as a bit of a messy signature. But that little loopy dot above his “i” definitely helps its character a bit. The ’81 card really sucked up the ink a bit and that hurts the score on these. The other things I noticed is that Bill likes to try to find an empty spot to sign cards. That’s a lot like Tony La Russa.
