The Story of the Autograph

Bill Fahey is a former catcher in the major leagues. He played during 11 season from 1971 through 1983 with the Washington Senators, Texas Rangers, San Diego Padres and Detroit Tigers.

Fahey was born and raised in Michigan. He was first drafted by the Baltimore Orioles out of high school in the 1968 MLB Draft, but he didn’t sign. Two years later the Senators drafted him in the first round of the 1970 MLB Draft out of Community College with the first overall pick. He spent just one year in their farm system before making his debut on September 26, 1971 right at the end of the season, playing in 2 games that year and going hitless in eight at bats.

He went with the Senators to Texas as they became the Rangers and played in a few games but would bounce around for the next several years. It wasn’t until later in the 70’s with the Padres when he got a bit more time. But Fahey was primarily a backup catcher for his career. The most game he ever appeared in was 93 with the Padres in 1980.

He ended his career with his hometown Detroit Tigers. After playing he managed in their minor league system. He also coached in the majors for the Tigers and the Giants.

The Score on Bill Fahey – 6.5

Bill has a pretty action packed signature. It’s got a nice flow to it and a pretty good slant. The best card to show it off is the ’78 Topps cards. That blue goes great with the Rangers uniform. The other cards are a bit busy but it still looks great on there. I really like his “F” especially.

Thanks Mr. Fahey! I’m giving this return a 6.5 overall.
