The Story of the Autograph

B.J. Armstrong is a three-time championship point guard. He played in the NBA from 1989 to 2000 with the Chicago Bulls (twice), Golden State Warriors, Charlotte Hornets, and Orlando Magic.

Armstrong was born and raised in the Detroit area of Michigan. He went to the University of Iowa to play basketball in college and at the time he graduated he was the career leader in assists (he has since been passed). He’s also in the top five in steals and points. The Bulls drafted him with the 18th overall pick in the first round of the 1989 NBA Draft.

He was part of the original three-peat Chicago Bulls from 1989 to 1995 when they won the NBA Championship in 1991, 1992, and 1993 before Michael Jordan left the NBA to play baseball. He was an All-Star the following season as he took a bigger role on the team. But in 1995 he was the first player chosen in the NBA Expansion Draft and was taken by the Toronto Raptors. He refused to report and was traded to the Warriors.

He continued to move around a bit to Charlotte and Orlando before making it back to the Bulls in 1999 and 2000 and retired at the end of the 2000 season. He later worked in the front office for the Bulls and then worked as an NBA analyst. These days he works as an agent for players like Derrick Rose and JaVale McGee.

B.J. does a pretty good job filling up your cards. Basketball cards are always just so busy though. I think while a black marker would have gone with the colors, there is no way it would have stood out enough. I know these really represent him after the championships he won, but I think on the other side of that coin, they represent the best part of B.J.’s career as an individual player and how he because a bigger part of the team once Jordan left.

Thanks Mr. Armstrong! These get a 7 overall.
