The Story of the Autograph

Shabazz Napier is a professional basketball player currently playing for the Minnesota Timberwolves. He’s been in the NBA since the 2014-15 season and has played for the Heat, Magic, Trailblazers, and Nets.

Napier was born in Roxbury, MA and spent his years growing up in the Boston area. He would end up at Lawrence Academy in high school and lead his team to a 29-0 season in 2010, winning the New England Prep Class C title. He went on to play at UConn for Jim Calhoun and backed up Kemba Walker. In that first year as a Husky they won the National Championship and went 32-9.

UConn would have a post-season ban for his sophomore and junior seasons, but while he considered transferring he stayed. That helped the transition to new head coach Kevin Ollie. Napier stayed in school all four years and it paid off with another National Championship in his senior season.

The Hornets drafted him with the 24th overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft. He was traded to the Heat on draft night though. That was only the first trade for Napier as he has been traded four time since them. His best year was in Portland for the 2017-18 season when he appeared in a career high 74 games and set career highs in almost every category and made the playoffs.

Shabazz has a nice signature and hit came out great on this. My concern with the magazines usually is size and placement. Placement is great for this as there is a big patch to place a signature. I just wish it was a little bigger to show it off a bit. Still, being a UConn fan that probably bumps up my score some. I tried not showing bias.

Thanks Mr. Napier! I’m giving this return a 7.
