The Story of the Autograph

Bobby Hebert is a former quarterback in the USFL and the NFL. He played from 1983 to 1985 with the Michigan Panthers and Oakland Invaders in the USFL and then from 1985 through 1996 with the New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons.

Hebert was born and raised in Louisiana. He went to school at Northwestern State and then went on to the USFL where he became one of the greatest quarterbacks in the leagues history. In the inaugural season he led the Michigan Panthers to the championship. He then made the playoffs the next year and then fell in the championship the year after that after his team merged with another. He’s the USFL’s all-time passing yardage leader.

In 1985 he went to New Orleans after the USFL folded. He first stared by splitting time and then moved into the starting role in 1987. He led the Saints to the playoffs in 1991 and 1992 before moving on to the Falcons in 1993 where he made his one and only Pro Bowl. After a couple years of backing up Jeff George, he was a starting again in 1996 and then retired.

His nickname was the “Cajun Cannon.”

Bobby really fills up that card. It’s not the fanciest signature out there, but he really goes boundary-to-boundary and has some pretty tall letters on there. Add in his number and the personalization and you’ve got a lot of ink on these cards. This is the second time I sent to Bobby but I can’t remember if it ended up being to this same address or not. So I don’t know if he is always a reliable signer.

Thanks Mr. Hebert! I’m giving this one a 6.5.
