The Story of the Autograph
Trent Edwards played quarterback in the NFL Bills, Jags and Eagles from 2007 through 2012. He also spent time with the Raiders (twice) and Bears as recently as 2014, but never made it to the official roster. Most of his time in the NFL was with the Bills and 2008 was his best chance in the league.
Trent was born and raised in California and went to college at Stanford after being pretty highly sought after in recruiting. He helped his high school team to two undefeated seasons and back to back Central Coast Section Division III Championships. At Stanford he sat out his freshman year to concentrate on his studies. After being a backup in 2003 he got the chance for a few starts. Edwards started all 11 games in 2005, but other years were always marked by injuries including his senior year when he broke his foot after starting the first seven games.
The Bills drafted Edwards in the third round of the 2007 NFL Draft and Mel Kiper thought he was the third best QB behind JaMarcus Russell and Brady Quinn. In the end, none of those guys really panned out. Edwards suffered some injuries in his career and while he played some great games and had some highlights he never really put it together completely. His best year was 2008 when he started 14 games and threw for 2699 yards, but only threw 11 touchdowns with 10 interceptions.
The Score on Trent Edwards – 5.0
Trent has a fine signature, and it’s pretty big which is what I like about it, but the marker was not great. It could be that he signs fast and that’s why it seems light. But no matter what the reason, it just didn’t come out well. I really thought these Topps Total cards could take a signature better after seeing a couple others come back with better signatures.
Thanks, Mr. Edwards! I’m giving this a 5.
